THE CONTRACT YOU SIGN

Commitment Agreement

This is the agreement you sign each time you create a commitment. It defines what you are promising, how it is proven, and exactly what happens if you miss. Nothing here is hidden in fine print.

Version 2.5Last updated · June 11, 2026

IThe commitment

A commitment is the thing you promise to do. It can be a recurring habit, a one-off task, a fitness goal, a screen-time goal, a work block, or another lawful and safe real-world action.

When I sign, I confirm the commitment details shown in the app, including the description, schedule, start date, deadline or check-in window, time zone, proof type, verifier, stake, grace and pause rules, Commitment ID, Terms version, and Commitment Agreement version.

Once signed, the commitment is active until completed, cancelled for future occurrences, paused under the rules shown, or ended by Commit under the Terms.

IIProof & window

Each commitment has a check-in window. Within that window, I must submit the proof type I chose.

Proof may include live photo, video, live time-lapse, screenshot, file upload, location check-in, Apple Health, Motion/Fitness, Screen Time / Family Controls, self-verification, buddy verification, or another method shown before signing.

Where proof must be captured live, camera-roll uploads or old files do not count unless the app explicitly allows them for that commitment. Proof submitted after the window closes does not count unless a grace, pause, or appeal is granted.

IIIThe verifier

My proof is assessed by the verifier I select:

  • Commit AI. Reviews proof, context, timestamp, and permitted metadata for the specific commitment.
  • A friend or buddy. A person I nominate approves or rejects the proof.
  • Automatic verification. Connected data such as Location, Apple Health, Motion/Fitness, Screen Time, or another integration confirms the result.
  • Self-verification. I confirm the result myself, where this option is available.

A verifier acts in good faith. If proof is rejected or a miss is recorded, I may appeal where the app allows appeals.

IVThe stake

A stake is the consequence that applies only if I miss. The stake for this commitment is:

$20 per miss → Direct Relief

Possible stake types include no stake, app block or Screen Time stake, exercise for screen time, email or message stake, and monetary stake.

If this commitment has a monetary stake, I authorize Commit to charge the payment method on file for the amount shown before signing, inclusive of applicable taxes where required.

I understand that a monetary stake is a Commit service fee for accountability services. It is not a deposit, escrow, bet, wager, lottery, contest entry, donation, or charitable contribution by me. I cannot win money from Commit, and no outcome is determined by chance.

VWhat counts as a miss

I miss a commitment occurrence if the check-in window closes, no accepted proof was submitted in time, no available pause applies, no grace token or grace rule reverses the miss, and no appeal is approved.

Showing up and submitting valid proof in time is never a miss. No charge, app block, message, or other consequence happens unless a miss becomes final under this Agreement.

In short

Do the thing, prove it in time → kept, nothing happens. Window closes with no valid proof → miss, and the stake applies unless grace, pause, or appeal fixes it.

VIGrace, appeals & pause

Real life is built in:

  • Grace tokens. If available, I may spend a grace token to reverse a miss and preserve my streak under the rules shown in the app.
  • Appeals. If something genuinely outside my control caused the miss, I may submit an appeal with context and supporting evidence.
  • Pause. If I am travelling, sick, off-grid, or otherwise unable to complete future occurrences, I may pause upcoming occurrences in advance where the app allows it.

Appeals may be approved for emergencies, illness, family crises, app failures, device failures, incorrect verification, payment errors, or similar circumstances. Appeals may be denied for ordinary regret, repeated bad-faith appeals, fake evidence, or attempts to game the system.

VIICharges & allocations

For monetary stakes, I authorize Commit and its payment processor to charge my saved payment method when, and only when, a miss is final under this Agreement.

A monetary stake may be authorized first and captured later, or captured immediately, depending on the payment flow shown before signing and supported by the payment processor. If a hold period or dispute window applies, the app will show that timing before or after the stake fires.

If my payment method fails, Commit may retry the payment method, charge a backup method where I added one, pause or deactivate the affected commitment, restrict future monetary stakes, or ask me to update payment details.

Charity categories

If I selected a charity or anti-charity category, I understand that the stake is still paid to Commit as a service fee if collected. I am not making a donation, I will not receive a tax receipt, Commit is not my charitable agent, and funds are not held in escrow or trust for me, a charity, or any third party.

Commit may allocate a disclosed portion of its own revenue through its Charitable Giving Program. Current Charitable Giving Program figures remain $0 until real stakes are collected and real disbursements are made. Audit status is Audited by · TBD until a real independent audit is completed.

VIIISafety confirmations

By signing, I confirm that this commitment is lawful and safe for me to pursue.

  • I will not create commitments involving illegal activity, self-harm, harm to another person, harassment, humiliation, threats, doxxing, blackmail, bullying, or abuse.
  • I will not create commitments involving unsafe dieting, unsafe weight loss, medical noncompliance, dangerous physical activity, exploitative content, hateful activity, extremist activity, or unlawful organizations.
  • If this commitment involves health, fitness, sleep, diet, weight, medication, or another health-related activity, I confirm that I am responsible for deciding whether it is safe for me and that Commit is not providing medical advice.

Commit may cancel, pause, refuse to enforce, or refund a commitment that appears unlawful, unsafe, abusive, technically unreliable, or likely to violate platform rules.

IXYour signature

By signing below, I confirm that I reviewed the commitment details, stake, amount, destination category, proof method, deadline, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and this Agreement before signing.

I confirm that I am at least 18 years old if this commitment includes a monetary stake, that I am authorized to use the payment method on file, that I consent to do business electronically, and that my electronic signature has the same effect as a handwritten signature to the maximum extent allowed by law.

Commit may keep a record of this signed Agreement, including my user ID, timestamp, device information, IP address, Terms version, and a copy or hash of the agreement shown at signing.

By signing below, I authorize Commit to apply the stake shown above if I do not complete and verify this commitment by the deadline shown above.
